Our lab has been studying the mechanisms of disuse atrophy and impaired muscle recovery in older adults and aged rodents particularly focusing on mechanisms associated with the biological hallmarks of aging such as immune aging, chronic inflammation, and cellular senescence. We implement various models of muscle atrophy and regrowth in aged rodents and humans and investigate novel gerotherapeutics while often conducting integrated translational projects that span from cells to humans.
